    FYG Clinical Rotations

    The Griffith Base Hospital rotation provides a fantastic opportunity to see a wide variety of clients, with the

    rural secondment including:

    • Surgical & Medical Inpatients - expected to see include post-op abdominal procedures (laparotomies, anterior resections), pre-op breathing assessments & various other minor procedures.
    • General Outpatients, casting & splinting
    • Emergency Department and Intensive Care Unit

     

    Working Hours

    8.00am to 4.30pm Monday to Friday

    Accommodation (shared) is available on site 

    Travel

    Griffith is approximately a 5-6 hour drive from Sydney; fuel / air fares covered for 1 return trip during the secondment.

    Orientation Process

    Please contact Stephanie Star (Physiotherapist in Charge) at Griffith Base Hospital, prior to commencing the rotation to Griffith Hospital

    Orientation is provided for 1/2 day on the first day of the rotation

     

    Education Programs

    Regular departmental in-services and individual tutorials as required.  

     

    Pre-Requisites e.g. D/L; Interest in clinical areas relevant to facility

    Support Mechanisms

    • The FYG will be working closely with the Senior Physiotherapists on a daily basis
    • Informal performance reviews will be ongoing
    • Formal reviews will occur at mid & end-points of the rotation  

    Annual Leave Policy

    Annual leave is usually not approved for New Graduates in their first year of work. However, it may be considered under exceptional circumstances, and requires approval from the Department Head
