Selection Criteria
Applicants will need to address the following selection criteria for a Level 1-2 Physiotherapist within SESLHD:
1. Qualifications in accordance with Schedule C of the NSW Health Service Health Professionals (State) Award and the Physiotherapy Board of Australia (AHPRA); and demonstrated commitment to continuing professional development.
2. Demonstrated core competency skills in Cardiorespiratory, Neurological and Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy
3. Demonstrated high level written, verbal and interpersonal skills, to both engage patients/clients and work effectively with the multi-disciplinary team.
4. Demonstrated ability to exercise independent professional judgement in the provision of clinical care using evidence-based practice, commensurate with years of experience.
5. Demonstrated commitment to the use and application of professional and clinical digital technologies.
6. Demonstrated participation or leadership in quality improvement processes and teaching, commensurate with years of experience.
FYG Clinical Rotations
Stream A and B:
ICU evenings and Relief (13 weeks)
Secondment to Broken Hill Hospital – Musculoskeletal Outpatients and General Wards (13 weeks)
Stream A Only:
Orthopaedics (13 weeks)
Respiratory (13 Weeks)
Stream B Only:
Aged Care (13 weeks)
Acute Neurology (13 weeks)

Working Hours
Normal shifts: Monday to Friday 8.00am-4.30pm.
Evenings and Relief rotation: (2 FYGs on this rotation at the same time with each working the alternate week in a 2 week cycle):
- One week is ICU and evenings, Mon-Fri 1.30pm-10.00pm plus Sat and Sun 11.30am-8.00pm. After the evening shift, you are then On-Call until 8.00am the next day. Call-backs are infrequent.
- The other week is 2 days off (Monday and Tuesday), then work Relief Shifts (Wednesday to Friday 8.00am-4.30pm for leave relief, covering a variety of clinical areas), then the weekend off.

Weekend Shifts
FYGs are rostered on alternate weekends during Evenings and ICU rotation as described under "working hours".
Department staff (including FYGs) participate in weekend rosters (daytime shifts) throughout the year as required. St George has permanent weekend staff, but cover is needed for their annual leave etc. When weekday staff work a weekend shift, staff will recive a Rostered Day Off (RDO) on a weekday.
In addition, FYGs are also rostered on daytime shifts on long weekends/public holidays during the year.
Evening shifts
FYGs work 7 evening shifts at a time during the ‘Evenings and relief rotation’ as described under "working hours".

Travel
Train to Kogarah (about 15mins from Central Station on the T4 to Cronulla-Illawarra line), then a 5-minute walk to St George Hospital.
Orientation Process
There is compulsory 3 day orientation in the department, the week prior to commencing allocation.
Education Programs
Weekly staff in-services, clinical area in-services and journal clubs. FYG orientation is in the week prior to allocation.

Social Activities
Friendly department with social activities planned throughout the year. St George Hospital has a variety of activities for Staff Wellbeing throughout the year (eg Pilates classes, gardening group etc)
Support Mechanisms
Senior staff work with FYGs in the clinical areas. Appraisals / performance reviews occur each rotation as well as monthly clinical supervision sessions.
Annual Leave Policy
Each FYG may take up to 10 days Annual leave throughout the year.
