Qualifications recognised for registration with the Physiotherapy Board of Australia and current AHPRA Registration.

Strong undergraduate performance and relevant clinical practice placements. Submission of course results and APPs is required.

Demonstrated interest in tertiary level acute hospital physiotherapy clinical practice. Flexibility and willingness to work across evening, weekend, public holiday clinical practice rosters and a rural/regional hospital secondment

Demonstrated ability to prioritise busy clinical workloads, meet deadlines and complete activities (including ability to work within scope of practice and seek assistance when required) and demonstrated computer literacy skills.

Demonstrated ability to respond to feedback and incorporate into clinical practice.

Demonstrated ability to work individually with senior support and as part of a multidisciplinary team

Commitment to Quality Improvement, ongoing professional development, evidence based practice and research and the ability to apply to clinical practice
FYG Clinical Rotations
10 weeks Musculoskeletal Outpatients
5 weeks Orthopaedics/Trauma Inpatients and Fracture Clinic
5 weeks ICU
5 weeks Acute Neurology and Neurosurgery
5 weeks in total evening shift - ICU, ED and wards
10 weeks in total to cover inpatient areas including medical or surgical wards
10 weeks secondment to Lismore Base Hospital
Working Hours
0800 to 1630. 30 minute lunch. 20 minute morning tea.
Evening Shift 1615 to 0045, and on call 0045 to 0800 either sleeping in staff quarters or at home
Weekend Shifts
Weekends: One shift in three weekends, rostered day off in lieu.
Required to work some public holidays
Evening shifts
Evening duty: Total of 5 or 6 weeks over the 12 months. 2 blocks through the year of 7 consecutive evenings, 4 days off and 3 day shifts repeated 2 or 3 times over.
You will be working in conjunction with an afternoon shift physiotherapist (staffing permitting) for most of your shift, to provide physiotherapy interventions preventing respiratory deterioration and facilitating patient discharge including from the Emergency Department
Evening Shift 1615 to 0045 and on call 0045 to 0800 either sleeping in staff quarters or at home
Accommodation
None at RNSH.
On site "on call" room available for evening physiotherapist to sleep after shift concludes and while on call.

Travel
Train and bus available to the hospital. Staff parking within the hospital available at a cost. Street parking is available a short walk from the hospital. Go Active Hub with showers and lockers available if cycling or running

New graduate initial orientation and training process over several weeks.
On-line and hard copy of resources available for new starters
Please contact the Head of Department immediately following allocation to organise details of secondment and first rotation.
First year graduate Orientation Day on the Thursday in the week before the start date for allocation. 1 day off in Lieu taken during the year to cover this day.
Education Programs
New graduate education process over first few months.
Weekly departmental inservices by staff and invited guests.
Speciality area inservices and journal clubs held regularly.
Physiotherapists are encouraged to participate in clinical area meetings and education.
Education sessions for new graduates to gain skills in specialised clinical areas such as casting, ED, ICU , spinal cord injuries and to prepare for weekend and evening work.

Annual Leave Policy
Annual leave is usually not approved for New Graduates in their first year of work. However, it may be considered under exceptional circumstances, and requires approval from the Head of Department. A week consisting of Rostered Days Off and Accumulated Days Off can usually be arranged during the allocation year.
