Selection Criteria
FYG Clinical Rotations
4 x 3 month rotations-
1. Acute rotation (6 weeks Surgical Ward, 6 weeks ICU/Evenings)
2. Aged Care Unit or Neurology/Stroke Unit
3. Musculoskeletal Outpatients, or Bowral secondment (Outpatients, inpatients, Chronic disease management)
4. Orthopaedics/Trauma, or Paediatrics/Womens Health
Working Hours
Hours of work are 8.00am to 4.30pm Monday to Friday with the exception of the Evening physiotherapist who works from 1.00pm until 9.30pm (no overnight on call). Weekend hours are 8.00am to 4.30pm.
Weekend Shifts
Weekend service is 8.00am - 4.30pm and partly staffed by permanent part timers, casuals and First Year Graduate in the Acute (ICU/evenings half) rotation. First Year Graduates in Acute rotation rostered to work every 2nd Saturday of rotation with a Rostered Day Off scheduled on Wednesday following the Saturday shift. All New Graduates participate in weekend on call roster (approximately once every 3 months). First Year Graduates may be asked to assist with additional weekends and Public Holidays throughout the year depending on weekend staffing.
Evening shifts
Half the Acute rotation is ICU/Evenings (approximately 6-7 weeks). Evening hours of work are 1.00pm - 9.30pm Monday to Friday (no overnight on-call). Evening shift entails working in ICU/Cardiothoracics (1pm -4:30pm) and patients on the evening list (5.00pm-9:30pm).
Accommodation
No accommodation available at Liverpool. Accommodation provided on Bowral secondment.
Travel
Liverpool Hospital is within walking distance of Liverpool and Warwick Farm train stations (10 minutes). There are multiple buses that come past the hospital. All day street parking is available if driving.
Paid undercover staff parking also available.
Orientation Process
Contact Physiotherapy Head of Department immediately once notified of allocation. Attendance at Hospital orientation (half day) within first month. Online HETI Mandatory training needs to be completed within first month.
Daily inservice/orientation New Graduate program is provided by the Physiotherapy Department over the first three weeks with every effort made to ensure you are well inducted and supported throughout the allocation year.
Education Programs
Departmental inservice program 2-3 times a month and a weekly clinical team inservice program. Weekly Medical Grand Rounds and other conferences/courses offered within Liverpool Hospital and SWSLHD.
SWSLHD Clinical Network groups meet 2-3 times per year for collaboration, education and training. Online 'My Health Learning' education and training modules available.

Social Activities
24/7 Staff Gym. Liverpool Hospital Social Club activities as well as Departmental Social Activities and lunches.
Support Mechanisms
Regular formal and informal performance management/supervision conducted on each rotation with Seniors. Each First Year Graduate meets with Head/Deputy Head of Department or Team Leaders during the year to complete a Professional Development Plan. Staff Support and Wellbeing Services available for free professional counselling for staff and their families. All First Year Graduates are encouraged to speak to Seniors, Team Leaders, or Head/Deputy Head of Department if needing support for any reason.
Annual Leave Policy
First Year Graduates encouraged to take annual leave throughout the year (at least 2 weeks). Leave is generally not able to be organised when on evening rotation and dependent on clinical team's ability to cover. Discuss Annual leave plans as soon as possible with Senior and Team Leader to ensure it can be accomodated. Will need email approval from Head/Deputy Head of Department and submit an "Application for Annual Leave" form.
