    Working Hours

    Hours of Work: 8.00am - 4.30pm

     

    Weekend Shifts

    5 rotations have a 6 day roster - either Tuesday to Saturday or Sunday to Thursday.

    There may be opportunity to work overtime weekends.

    Evening shifts

    No night duty. 

    Accommodation

    None at John Hunter Hospital. Cheap rents available close to beach. Rental accommodation significantly cheaper than Sydney.

    Orientation Process

    Full day orientation (Friday 3rd February) prior to commencing in clinical areas on Monday 6th February 2016. FYG Dinner held on the Friday night to welcome the new and farewell the outgoing FYG graduates. Individual appointments arranged prior to start date to finalise recruitment documentation.

    Education Programs

    Access to Hospital Educational Programs such as  journal clubs/inservices in each clinical area, general department inservices held fortnightly and an Annual Professional Development Day. There is an active APA Regional Group. There is monetary support available to attend external courses if applicable.

    Newcastle / Lake Macquarie is the second largest metropolitan centre outside of Sydney (NSW). Situated 2 hours north of Sydney it is renowned for its beaches, lake and wineries. The Hunter offers excellent sporting facilities and has a large array of pubs and clubs.

    All water sports, bushwalking, horse riding etc plus all conventional sporting activities are available.  It is in close proximity to the Hunter Valley vineyards and beaches, "great surfing beaches"

    Comprehensive supervision provided and Appraisal and Competency manual for all FYG's.
