    Selection Criteria


    1.    Demonstrated effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills

    2.    Demonstrated ability to prioritise, meet deadlines and organise a busy workload

    3.    Demonstrated commitment to professional development and evidence based practice

    4.    Strong undergraduate performance in academic subjects and relevant clinical practice placements. Submission of course results and APPs is required.

    Orthopaedics/ General Surgery

    Inpatient Rehabilitation

    Outpatients/ Orthopaedic Fracture Clinic/ Hydrotherapy

    Float/ Leave relief

    Neuro/ stroke 

    Working Hours

    0800 - 1630

    Weekend Shifts

    Some weekenda and on call cover.

    Rotating Public Holiday cover.

    Evening shifts

    Some rotations may require the staff member to work 0930 - 1800




    Parking is available around the hospital and on site.

    There is a multistorey carpark which has a fee.

    The hospital is accessible from Hornsby train station with a 20 minute walk to the hospital.

    Orientation Process

    • One day mandatory Corporate Orientation
    • Induction to the department completed over the first month

    Education Programs

    • Fortnightly inservice education available through the department
    • Fortnightly journal club sessions
    • Some support to attend external courses
    • Clinical supervision provided
    • FYG tutorials at the beginning of the year
    • Competency assessments

    Pre-Requisites e.g. D/L; Interest in clinical areas relevant to facility

    • Active social calendar 
    • Close to national parks

    • Some staff ride their bike to work

    Support Mechanisms

    • Formal Supervision and mentoring provided.
    • Senior support in rotations.
    • buddy system. 

    Annual Leave Policy

    Minimal annual leave approved in first year.

    Can be negotiated on a case by case basis, depending on the circumstances.
