Orientation Process

  • Contact the Physiotherapist-in-charge one week prior to commencement.
  • The Physiotherapy department has close links with Nepean, Blue Mountains and Springwood Hospitals and Community Health
  • 2 day district orientation - Topics covered in NBMLHD Orientation for New Graduates include manual handling, WH&S, traction, cast application and removal, respiratory assessment for adults and paediatrics, brace application, mobility assessments, basic life support (BLS), and electronic medical records (Cerner).
  • Allied Health New Graduate Program handbook supplied for additional reference.
  • New Graduate clinical orientation at the commencement of each rotation.
  • Uniform provided: teal shirt/navy pants.
  • The staff are friendly and supportive.

  • 12,000 people live in the town, and another 8,000 in the surrounding area.
  • Lithgow is a historical town with string links to Australia's industial development, and is a 20 minute drive from the Blue Mountains.
  • Recreational activities include bush walking, mountain bike riding, rock climbing, abseiling, canyoning, golf, etc.
