    FYG Clinical Rotations

     The FYG Rotation to Dubbo has a mixed inpatient and outpatient caseload.  The majority of the time is spent working in musculoskeletal outpatients, with hours allocated to assisting on the inpatient wards including Medical Ward, Surgical Inpatient Unit, Extended Day Surgery and ICU/CCU.

    Outpatient will include:

    • Musculoskeletal
    • Sports 
    • Post-Fracture
    • Orthopaedics
    • Falls and Mobility
    • Some Paediatric Conditions

    Inpatients:

    • Orthopaedic and General Surgery
    • General Medicine, Geriatrics, Respiratory, Acute Neurology, Cardiology
    • Intensive Care/High Dependency Unit/Coronary Care Unit

    Working Hours

    Working hours are 08.00-16.30 Monday to Friday

    Weekend Shifts

    Weekends not mandatory.   There may be opportunities to do weekend shifts

    Evening shifts

    No evening or night shifts

    Accommodation

    Accommodation supplied for the rotation at no cost

    Travel

    A predetermined travel subsidy is provided once each rotation

    Orientation Process

    Orientation at commencement of rotation.

    Education Programs

    Fortnightly in-services and journal club, regional physiotherapy teleconference inservices, videoconferencing links with RPA In-service Programs

    Social Activities

    Hospital Swimming Pool and tennis court.  Various sporting facilities around town.  Fishing and Kayaking on the Macquarie River.  Taronga Western Plains Zoo.  Theatre and Art Gallery.  Observatory, Wineries, Markets.  Pubs, clubs and a range of restaurants.

    Day trips to: Mudgee (Wineries), Lake Burrendong (Sailing, waterskiing), the Warrumbungles (hiking, camping), Orange (wineries, restaurants)

    Support Mechanisms

    Outpatients Senior for formal and informal supervision.  Other senior staff for support as required.
